Stuntman Stu scores big for the Sens Foundation
with launch of his new wine
November 4, 2009, Ottawa, ON - Voice of the Ottawa Senators and local radio
personality Stuntman Stu is launching his own wine label to raise money for the Sens
Foundation. Stuntman Stu’s Red Line Merlot VQA 2008 will be officially released at the
Ottawa Wine and Food Show (Lansdowne Park, November 6th-8th).
Stuntman Stu teamed up with noted Ottawa sommelier Debbie Trenholm, president of
Savvy Company, and award-winning winemaker Frederic Picard of Prince Edward
County’s Huff Estates Winery to bring this fundraising project to life. Prince Edward
County is one of Canada’s fastest-growing wine regions, located a few hours’ drive
from Ottawa. Two dollars from the sale of every bottle of Stuntman Stu’s Red Line
Merlot will go to the Sens Foundation—an organization that supports hundreds of local
charities dedicated to improving the lives of children. The project is a non-profit
venture for Stuntman Stu. “I’ve been fortunate to be able to provide for my children.
I want to do my part to make sure other kids get the opportunities in life they
deserve,” Stuntman Stu said, adding, “Ottawa has been my home for more than 15
years. It’s a city that has given me incredible opportunities and this is a chance for
me to give back.”
Sens Foundation president Danielle Robinson says she’s thrilled about this innovative
fundraising venture. “Stuntman Stu is taking his involvement with the Sens Foundation
to the next level. The money raised through this project will help hundreds of kids in
Ottawa. And who knows where this could lead when the first release of Red Line Merlot
has sold out.” Stuntman Stu personally selected a wine that reflects his personality:
full of life, versatile and fun. “Wine always brings a sense of occasion. It should be
enjoyed with friends and family,” said Stuntman Stu. “I hope my Red Line Merlot and
the cause it supports will be the start to some great conversations.”
“This medium-bodied Merlot has aromas and tastes of black cherry and plum, with a
peppery finish,” said Trenholm. “It is smooth and easy to drink with anything from
pizza to barbequed steak,” adding, “it’s a great-value Ontario VQA wine and it
supports a great local charity.” Stuntman Stu Red Line Merlot VQA 2008 can be
ordered from www.stuntmanstu.com or www.savvycompany.ca for $19.95 a bottle
($239.40 per 12-bottle case). The project has been supported with in-kind
contributions from a handful of Ottawa creative agencies including greenmelon inc.
and Ascribe Marketing Communications Inc.
